Epson L110 printer ink reset fix

Hello my friends, the above image is an Epson L 110 printer. It has a inbuilt Ciss Tank for printing a high volume of both black and colour pages. It boasts of 15,000 pages or 1 year warranty.

Epson offers Black and Colours (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow) ink bottles for refilling. If we use original ink, the cost of printing would go to the higher end. There is also option of using third party ink which are non genuine. We could buy these bulk inks from website like Ebay.in

Ok we have bought a Epson L 110 printer for price of around 7000 rupees. The pack also contains ink bottles for adding in to the ciss tank.

Let us review how to unpack and fill the ink and get going.

Now you, have installed the L 110 epson printer, it is ready to print. Since Epson has promised 15,000 pages, you would print a lot of paper for your office and home related works.

Beware if some thing like this happens

If the ink light starts blinking, you would get a prompt from the epson printing software, that it is time to reset the ink level or time to refill the ink in to your ink tank.

Even after you refill the ink tank and the red ink light is still blinking, then what to do ?

You will start searching the internet for fixes or cracks. And finally you will land up with you tube videos called L110 adjustment programs or waste ink resetter programs, all of which either charge you 10 dollars per reset.

Try this video for instance

The video shows very simple steps, download a software, install it, then reset the ink level or waste ink pad level is cleared and you start printing. This is not simple, the video or blog will make to visit a website, which will charge you 10 dollars for the software.

Check out one such website:

so now what to do, either purchase the adjustment program by using your credit card or paypal account or should we call the epson customer care

Epson company is earning lots of income not by selling printers, but by selling epson genuine ink and by its customer service professionals and its on site epson technical engineers.

These Technical Engineers would come to your place, check out your epson printer, then charge you very high amounts of Indian rupees as repair fee.

Ok if the Espon Service Engineer is not called, you go to your local computer repair shop, for doing the repair, most of the technical guys do not do ciss tank repair, or waste ink pad replacements.

So what to do after investing 7000 Indian rupees in to very good espon L 110 printer. Is the printer dead or would it ever come back to working condition.

I am going to give you the tip which worked for me this morning. The red light has stopped blinking and the now the printer is working in very fine condition.

Free Software Waste ink resetters

1)Ssc Service Utility (does not support our Epson L 110) but can be used for normal flushing of ink and head cleaning.
2)Wic Reset Utility: It is free to download, but will not work without a reset key. To buy a reset a key you will pay 10 US dollars. Then they mail you the reset key. The reset key works fine for only one time and for one printer only. So we cannot reuse the reset key again.

Check out the following video

So what to do. It is very simple. Just relax, dont get mad at your L110 printer. Just read the lines just below. It might surely work for you as it worked for me. Just relax, play some nice music on your computer. Just Switch on your Epson L 110 Printer, the red ink light still blinking. Now look at the Epson logo, take a deep breadth. Turn around the printer, just go to the power cable. Just locate it. Now please dont unplug the power cable.

There are just buttons on your Epson L110 Printer.

1)The power on / off switch, which turns green

2)The next switch is the paper feed or ink button.

Now carefully view the 2nd Button on the black coloured Epson Printer. Just take a flash light and put some light on the second button.

After you have seen the 2nd button, there are two little led lights on it. One for the paper jam and the second for the ink refill button.

But the 2nd Button looks like a single switch, but there are two functions for it.

So since the red ink light is flashing, carefully put your fore finger on to it and give a gentle press.

Even if you keep on holding the red light button for an hour, the led light will not switch off.

Keep pressing the flashing red light part of the 2nd button and slowly turn the computer, locate the power plug, remove or unplug the power plug end from the printer's end. The power plug has to be disconnected while you are holding the red light button.

Now what will happen is, the printer's both green light and red light would be switched off, since there is no power supply.

After about a minute or so. Now you should listen carefully, you are about to plug in the power plug back on to the epson printer. ( just dont press any button or plug any cord, just listen and understand first)

Use your Right hand to plug the power plug, the left hand has five fingers. Place your fore finger on the power on switch (first switch), the middle finger on the red light blinking part of the 2nd switch.

I have already told that there are two functions to the 2 nd switch, so you have to be careful in holding the red light part of the 2 nd switch, not the entire button or switch.

Now plug the power cord with your left hand, press the red light blinking part of the 2nd switch with your middle finger, third thing switch on the printer using your forefinger the power on 1st switch. The green light will be on, printer would start making sounds, after a 1 minute gap of pressing the 2nd switch, remove your middle finger.

The red light part of the 2nd switch should be pressed before the printer is turned on, and should be still pressed for a minute, even after the printer is switched on. After a minute, the red light button should be released. Just wait for a few minutes, the red light would never turn on. Your printer would work as a new one. If you dont succeed at the first instance, try for a few more times. Till you get it right. This trick worked for me this morning. That is why, i am writing this blog to help you all.

Epson has one more pitfall or inbuilt resident evil in our L110 printer, which is the Waste ink tank and its associated pads. I am still not able to find the waste ink tank.

This above trick will help you make the printer work, but the waste ink tank is the ultimate bomb shell, which will definitely blow up your computer table with loads of waste ink, in a matter of few months.

warm wishes.

  5. i am not a mac user. i am not talking any software to upgrade or manipulate the epson L110 printer. The above instructions are clear. All you have to use is press the buttons on the printer itself for a few seconds and the printer gets started again as new printing pages for more. Hence, i do not think, we are concerned about the operating system.

    1. Power Off Printer.
    2. Put 1 coupon bond on the loading tray.
    3. Press both Power Button and paper feed or ink button 15sec.
    4. After 15sec release power button and paper feed or ink button.
    5. Paper feed or ink button with Orange light will steady while the power button will be blinking.
    6. Now press once the paper feed or ink button with orange light and it will print a test print. OK na.

  7. The instructions are clearly given in my blog pages. No need to summarize, your interpretation is different. A test print page printing is not necessary, in resetting the ink level in Epson L 110. My blog pages are very clear, what is coupon bond ?

My methodology is simple, many people have tried to sell ink resetting software and serial keys in my blog, but i have tried to avoid them. Epson's secret of removing the waste tank in L 110 has been revealed by my blog. So people trying to cash on this resetting ink level are at loss for a few months, hence they try to advertise in as many ways as possible. May be their sales potential has gone done with my blog revealing easy and free ways to bypass the epson company's trick.

  12. Thanks. It works by counting from 1 to 60 (approx I minute) while pressing the 'ink button' & I'm trying to use the same method for my other Epson CX79 & T13. Had the same problem. 1st problem solved, What about the 'waste ink tank'? Can't we insert a tube with a bottle attached to control the overflow?.

I read the comments and mostly about technical communication/instruction. I came across some product instructions from Poland or China they were even worse but manage to understand them after drinking 3 cups of coffee and one piece of chapati.

    Anyway. Nandre. nandre, nandre!

  14. thanks cikmat B, you did manage to understand the instructions after having 3 cups of coffee and one piece of chapati. For T13, we have a software ssc service utility (free to use) and also ciss setup has a chip which could be reset quite often.

there is no waste tank in L series models. They have only sponges placed at the bottom of the printer. Hence we could attach a tube and a bottle to get the excess overflow, but the tube leading to the exit is very short, we could connect another tube using a connector. Hence we could make some adjustments by placing a container under the outlet, which could get the excess ink out, without any mess.

    3. Press & hold blinking button (ink / paper feed) and unplug power cable from wall socket.
    4. Release the blinking button.
    5. Wait for 60 to 70 seconds.
    6. Replug power cable to the printer.
    7. Press & hold blinking (ink / paper feed) button with one finger and press the power button with another finger.
    8. Release the power button when the green light of the button lights but KEEP PRESSING THE INK / PAPER FEED BUTTON for about 1 minutes.
    9. Be relaxed until the printer gets ready. It will make some sounds.

  30. people comment that my ink resetting works.

Later people modify the technique in to easy steps

Then people use the modified technique

People complain that this is no longer working their epson printers.

Do not take these comments in to account. Only when your printer gets stuck and flashing red lights, you will search for ink resetting in google search.

I have ruined epson's state of the art ink pads and also their sales a little bit, by publishing these blogspot pages.

I have also affected the business of local ink refillers, and computer technicians.

I have empowered, the average printer user to reuse their printers.

I have just surpassed the 15,000 page mark. there is no problem in my epson L 110 printer.

They have stopped selling this L 110 model instead they are doing sales of the L 210 model in India.

i have already got 23,000 visits to my little free blog. Which means, it is a success. In my printer, there is no waste ink pads, i have removed them and thrown it out. I use indegenious waste tank, which is a fanta plastic bottle, self made.

I will soon post this waste tank model also. All my instructions will work, but patience is required, that is why i have used a lot of vocabulary. You can just feel the wind or breeze, but not visualize it or explain it in a few words.

    3. two buttons on the printer. one blinking green, the other in red.

This red one has two subtypes. Now press the two buttons with your forefinger and middle finger. Press it firmly, while doing so, remove the power cable from the printer. You should not switch the main power, just remove the power cable at the back of the printer. Then again you connect the power cord. You press the two buttons and turn on the main power to the printer. Now your printer will start making sounds. The lights will not blink any more. Try to do it 2-3 times with patience, then the lights would stop blinking.

then use some third party ink to refill the ink tanks. First fill the tanks, and then do the above procedure. At all times the printer should be connected to the computer. The computer must be on at all times, when you do this epson ink reset. My friend, never use internet on your computer, when using epson printer. The firmware of the printer could get updated. It is always best to switch off the internet router, while printing documents on Epson printer, if you are using third party inks for refilling.

    1. just follow the above steps, there is no need to use a genuine epson ink, you can use third party inks as well for refilling. Just press the two blinking buttons on your printer, remove the power cord, then again, continue to plug in the power source, without removing the fingers on the buttons. Then after a minute, remove your fingers from the buttons, then the blinking lights would be gone, the printer will make sounds and then it is all new printer to print. You should fit a external waste tank, as there is no internal waste tank in the epson L 110 or any other later models. However, there is waste pad at the bottom of the printer, try to remove those sponges, do not fit them, throw them out.

      warm wishes.

  35. i have crossed about 18,000 pages on my epson L 110, i have refilled by using third party inks available on ebay.in No frills or complaints from my printer. Still working fine, and it will for ever. Always use third party inks, refill on your own. Do not engage refilling by a third person or a commercial person. They would charge heavily for a single refill. If you cannot believe in your abilities to read and understand and do it, then you can ask another person to refill your printer.

Already the Epson company has got a heavy sum out of you around 6500 to 7000 Indian rupees out of your monthly budget in the form of selling a printer.

After you have bought the printer, it would work finely till the inks dry up. The software would ask for update, it would spy on your ink levels, it would urge you to refill with genuine epson ink. Then it would ask to contact customer care for technical assistance, as it has a 1 year warranty from the manufacturer

But still the question lies, you pay a big sum, to get annoyed by such nuisance after sales spamming. Even this spamming, even this is a telemarketing call, but the mobile does not ring, your printer blinks red lights.

Save your money friends, technology could be copyrighted, patented, hidden only for a period of time. Once the secret is out, the technology has to be modified. Epson has already got its money for its innovation. Dont pay for the accessories or ink it sells. Epson is a printer company. Buy the printer. Not the other things from Epson. I was using a hp printer, later i moved out to Epson, Epson was advertising for its indegenious ink tank system, only to find out there was no waste tank in it. I realized that there was no waste ink tank, just some waste ink pads (sponges) in the printer.

Just save your money for your other basic needs, not on the ink or the software update or the ink reset software key.

    warm wishes.

    ReplyDelete
  36. we should still be carefull on refilling a third party ink as it will void the warranty of your epson printer. :)

    ReplyDelete
  37. what kind of warranty are you talking, will the epson company, pay for any of the spare parts required to service your printer. There is a big no for this question. You purchase any product, they give you a warranty card for a 1 year period. This does not mean that the company will replace any spare parts. The onsite engineer, who comes to your residence to service the printer, would only blame you for the printer's repair condition. He will ask you to pay the bill, if you do not comply, then he would not do any service. It is all a fuss about even calling the customer care number which is of course toll free. Thirty party inks do work, study all the specifications before hand my friends, before using. The power of modifying your own printer is with you. You buy a printer, and the printer manufacturer tells you, how to use the printer in a way, which will profit his boss. Is that it, is that free will. It is your life, your own printer. You can do whatever you want. Dont be in fear, my friends, the printer will work as fine as it did, when you purchased it at first. This is my blog, i have all the free will to keep it that way. Anybody comments passed on by other persons, it is there own viewpoint, as the blog owner, i do not endorse any of their views. I stand by my own views only. The three blog pages, is all you need to crack the epson L series printers ink thirst. That's it, it your own life, you live it they way you want. But do not afraid, others be careful statements.

Even human life has no warranty. You could enrol in a life insurance or mediclaim scheme, but after your death, you will not enjoy the hard earned premiums you paid for the good part of your younger life. But the insurance company will enjoy your money even after your passed away.

Hence there is no warranty for anything in life, but where there is a will there is surely a way. That is what, i am trying to do in my blog pages regarding this epson printer.

Numerous persons, have tried to put their blog page links here in my blog, they have tried to sell ink reset keys, ink resetting software. All this is in vain, no they try to give a be careful message to others. I could have deleted this comment, but i do not want to delete it as it is against free will.

37,190 page hits so far to my blog, i do not earn anything from this blog, as it is a free blog. I will keep it free that way as far as possible. Media is always managed by the media gurus. They try to make fake facebook ids, and try to give likes. But everything in this blog, truely natural, nothing artificial. People have tried to use my steps, many have succeeded, few find faults at first, then they do get it right. There is no point of arguing, i always agree to disagree.

  41. it works:

Press and hold resume/stop button for 5 seconds then release the button, hold and press resume/stop button again for about 3 seconds then release the button and finally press again resume/stop button just once then restart the printer.
After restart the printer it should be normal again!

  42. I appreciate people commenting on my blog, i feel happy, when people thank me. People keep on modifying my instructions, i do not acknowledge any of those amended or modified instructions. I stand by my blog content. I have made this free blogspot content for the benefit of all public who use the above mentioned printer. If you can benefit from my instructions, then it is good for you. I do not change any of my set rules, it might be very elaborate. All the modified procedures have been found out only from using my elaborate instructions. Hence there could be a short cut for every highway, but finding the shortest cut road, could sometimes lead you to danger.

Hence try to stick to the first found short cut, which is mine, to solve all your printing worries.

First impression, is the best impression. I have made the first impressions, others have just modified my best impression. I was the one, who said that, it could be done for free, without using a ink reset software or a engineering genius.

    warm wishes.

  43. The epson resetter program also works fine. Just you have to download from the following website and then try to follow the instructions. This epson adjustment program is just to reset the ink counters, this does not do anything more, when red light blink on your printer. If your printer asks you check the ink levels or stops printing altogether, this adjustment program will not work. You will have to replace your waste ink pads, if you use this adjustment program in the below link. That is why i say, remove the waste ink pad sponges, to fit a external waste ink tank.

i am just giving the link below:

    http://www.mavtech.info/2014/09/how-to-reset-epson-l110-printer.html

The above link and the adjcracked program just tries to bring back your ink counter to zero, but does not do anything more.

    warm wishes.

    ReplyDelete
  46. You cannot add external ink tank to your L110 printer, as the tubing is not supported. However, you could place the printer on a raised platform from above the table, then put a half cut fanta bottle under the waste ink flow. This way, your waste ink fill flow in to the fanta bottle.

  49. Hi. Thanks for all the helpful instructions. I followed them easily. I have cleaned the waste ink pads, but I'm going to use a bottle now instead. I've also stopped the ink light from flashing and reset the counter. I've run the cleaning 3 times and checked the head cleaning pattern, all clear. But still my prints are not right, it's almost like the black ink is not printing.
My problem started when I got the message that my printer's inks pads are nearing the end of their serviceable life. Then shortly after that the printing went funny. I then found your blog. Do you have any more suggestions ?
I'm really in a bind as I have to print over 4000 pages a month.

    1. You should not let your ink dry. So you have to print a few pages daily or atleast once in 2 days. I think the black ink has dried up. Do a few power ink flushings and print a test page, if the test page shows good lines of all colours, then printer is good to use and print. If not, you will have to run some head adjustment prints, try do all the maintainence work offered in your epson software. At all times be offline when you print on your printer. Just switch off the broadband router or internet when you print.

I have been using this printer for about a year, i modified the printer from day one. I have never spent on printer repair. I use very good quality third party inks for refilling. I do my own refilling, repairs, upgradations, and other adjustments on my printer. I print about 2000 pages a month or sometimes more pages all multicolour prints.

      warm wishes.

    2. Thanks, I ran the power ink flush once and it worked.

I now print more than 8000 pages a month and am just wondering how long the print heads last.
I am also using non-genuine ink which i believe is good quality, it says its made for Epson printers.

I will always check your blog first when I have a problem.
      Regards

  50. Hi all,

Printer: Epson L210, on Pigment Ink, used daily (I own a print shop), 2-3 months since purchase

    Issue:

0 - Power on - Power Button Light is GREEN, blinks normally, printer initializes
+9 sec - Ink Light (RED) turns on, Epson Status Monitor says Ink Out (ink is full)
+29 secs (38 secs after power on) - carriage returns to Home position, and Paper Light (Red) blinks, and all three lights (Power, Paper, Ink) blink at a faster rate (less than a second per blink)...

Tried everything and I am stumped...

    • checked paper feeders and rollers, no foreign object
    • inks are full to the ink line
    • tried pressing Stop/Resume button for 10, 3, 1 second no response (all three lights blinking)
    • tried press Stop/Resume, unplug, press Stop/Resume + replug + power and release Stop/Resume after 1 minute ni response (all three buttons still blink)
    • did waste ink reset (success)
    • research says I need to bring this to Epson
    • some threads say Power Supply needs replacement

    HELP!!! Thanks guys! Cheers!

  54. Hi,

Today morning I had come across the problem with ink pad service message and printer stopped working. Thanks for your blog which I came across while searching for the printer problem. Actually i used the reset utility which I got free of cost through some other website and cleared the ink pad counters to '0' and printer started working. Now I have some doubts which can be resolved by you I hope.
    1. Do I really need to change or service the ink pad hardware (which is a sponge placed in a container and housed in side the printer) after resetting logically.
    2. I am using this printer since 2 years and 15000 (15K) pages printed with 10-15 times cleaned the nozzles and head cleaned twice and no other maintenance.
    3. Do I need to flush the ink often.

    Thanks
